What are the steps to buying property in Cyprus?

The process involves: (1) Property selection and reservation agreement with deposit (2) Legal due diligence title search, checking for mortgages and encumbrances (3) Drafting and signing the Sale & Purchase Agreement (4) Payment handling including stamp duty and taxes (5) For non-EU buyers, Council of Ministers approval (6) Title deed transfer at the Land Registry (7) Post-purchase support including utility setup and residency applications.

What is the GESY healthcare system and can expats use it?

GESY (General Healthcare System) is Cyprus's universal healthcare system. EU citizens and legal residents including those with permanent or temporary residency can register and access public healthcare services. Our firm can assist with the legal residency requirements needed to qualify for GESY registration as part of your relocation process.

What is Non-Domicile (Non-Dom) tax status in Cyprus?

Cyprus's Non-Domicile regime allows qualifying individuals to receive dividends and interest income completely tax-free for up to 17 years. To qualify, you must not have been a Cyprus tax resident for more than 17 of the last 20 years. This makes Cyprus exceptionally attractive for entrepreneurs, investors, and high-net-worth individuals seeking to legitimately minimise their tax burden within a fully EU-compliant framework.

What is a Yellow Slip and who needs it?

The Yellow Slip (Registration Certificate) is the official document confirming an EU citizen's right to reside in Cyprus under EU freedom of movement rules. It is required for EU nationals who plan to live, work, or retire in Cyprus. Our immigration team handles the entire application process, from document preparation to Department of Civil Registry submission.

What legal aspects should I consider when relocating to Cyprus?

Key legal considerations include: residency permit type (Yellow Slip for EU, Pink Slip/PR for non-EU), tax residency planning, property purchase or lease agreements, company registration if self-employed, vehicle importation and re-registration, GESY healthcare registration, and school enrolment for children. Our firm provides comprehensive relocation legal packages covering all these areas.

How does your firm handle property disputes?

We represent clients in all types of property disputes including title deed issues, boundary disputes, breach of sale agreements, construction delays, developer insolvency, landlord-tenant conflicts, and co-ownership disputes. Our approach is to first seek resolution through negotiation or mediation, and pursue court action when necessary always protecting your interests and investment.

What documents are required to open a business bank account in Cyprus?

Cyprus banks require: Certificate of Incorporation, Memorandum & Articles of Association, Certificate of Directors and Shareholders, Certificate of Registered Address, passport copies for all directors and shareholders, proof of address, business plan or description of activities, and proof of source of funds. Our firm prepares all required corporate documentation and liaises with banks on your behalf.
